With a hubby not keen on gardening and kids who love the outdoors, any ideas on an easy make over?
I would love an entertaining area and a kids area separate. Kids are 8 (girl) and 5 (boy) years old. Hubby works nights and sleeps days, so not interested in gardens! But, I love them. Is there a way of separating a yard for adults/kids and veggies/pets??!! And to have an easy yard to look after?!
You could lay some large paving stones outside the door to create a patio area large enough for a patio set & grill and maybe even a fire pit. As for a veggie garden area, I would probably do raised garden boxes which are becoming quite popular–you should be able to find instructions and suggestions online. This way the pets will stay out of your plants and the kids won’t have to worry as much about avoiding the area with their balls, bikes, etc… Then basically the rest of the yard can be for the kids. You could do a playset or if you have nice trees just do a couple of rope swings and plenty of open space for them to run and play. If you really want to create a separate area for them, though then I guess you could do some crossties or landscape timbers with sand or mulch.
